Stanley Cowell, pianist/composer, has been using Kyma live on tour with Nasheet Waits' quartet, Equality in performances at Jazz Baltica festival in Salzau, Germany July 4th, 2009, on German Radio and 3SAT broadcasts, and at Club Mix, Jazz à Vienne (France) Festival, July 6th, 2009. Discussion(Eyewitness reports, descriptions, discussion):
Cowell reports that the band members love the sounds, and the German TV engineers had no problems with audio connections to and from the Apogee Duet he is using as his Paca audio interface. Kyma Sounds are used selectively (and tastefully) tracking piano notes on improvised solos and as ambient sounds for others' solos and ensemble passages. When touring, he can fit a laptop + power adapter, Duet + firewire cables, and a Paca inside a Targus laptop bag with Paca power adapter + cords, Duet audio cables, and one universal travel adapter all fitting into the outer pocket leaving some space still left over in an inner pocket for music and papers.
