While studying at NYU, John Littig worked days as a research assistant in the brain imaging department at the New York State Psychiatric Institute while spending his evenings playing drums in jazz clubs from Greenwich Village to Harlem, often returning home after sunrise. Both influences are reflected in his latest work in which Kyma is used for creating atmospheric intros to sultry Brazilian-style vocals, rock, soul and R&B tunes. Kyma can be heard on the intro to Tomorrow Never Knows and to Inside All Around (follow the Music link). John Littig will be playing at SOB's (Sounds of Brazil) in New York on Tuesday, Jan. 18th with Onaje Allan Gumbs on keyboards, Paul Hemmings on guitar, and choreography and performance by Hettie Barnhill from the Broadway smash hit Fela.
