Mathis Nitschke used Kyma in creating a German radio ad for the film Vertical Limit from Columbia Pictures. Directed by Martin Campbell, the film stars Chris O'Donnel, Scott Glenn, Bill Paxton and Izabella Scorupco. For the ad, Nitschke used Kyma to morph between a voice and ice-cracking, and between a voice and a gamelon gong to give a sense of the coldness, danger, and location of the film, which is set on the famous mountain, K2.
