My motivation in writing Kyma was originally one of necessity — I couldn't find any other system that did what I wanted, so I was compelled to make the system myself; but I discovered along the way that designing a composition language was itself a kind of composition. At times it becomes difficult to distinguish when I am working on a composition and when I am working on the
idea
of composition as embodied in Kyma...
