Studies in Music Technology at the University of Oregon are directed toward students who wish to pursue creative careers. The curriculum hinges on the balance between the development of artistic and aesthetic knowledge and the mastery of the technical aspects of the discipline. Courses emphasize music composition, performance and real-time interactive media environments in collaboration with artists outside of music. Exit exams are affiliated with degree programs to assure technical mastery. The various curriculums are not oriented toward the vocational training of recording engineers, or related technicians. Additional Information:
The University of Oregon School of Music has two openings for Graduate Teaching Fellowships in Music Technology. Each position provides a full tuition waiver and stipend. Graduate duties include assisting in the operation of the Future Music Oregon and may include teaching beginning classes in electronic music. Candidates must be accepted to a degree-granting program at the graduate level with preference going to those pursuing the Master of Music degree in Intermedia Music Technology or the masters or doctoral degrees in music composition. A substantial background in electronic music and sound design is desirable. For additional information contact: Dr. Jeffrey Stolet
