Question (or Task)
I'm doing everything by the book - have midi set up and controlling kyma just fine from max. But no matter what I just can't seem to get the vcs presets to respond to max's program change messages from the pgmout object...Is anyone able to do it? Is this a bug? thnx. Charlie

Solution(s)
Do you see the program change messages showing up in Kyma? (From the DSP menu, select Configure MIDI. Then chose Show MIDI messages). You should see them showing up as controller number 130. If you don't see them in this display, then Kyma is not receiving them (the usual reason for this is a MIDI interface that is filtering them out).
If you do see the MIDI program changes arriving in Kyma, then there are several other possibilities:
Double-check that you are sending the MIDI program changes on the same channel that the VCS expects to receive them. The default MIDI channel is 1, but you can change this in the Configure MIDI option of the DSP menu.
Double-check that the program changes are not off-by-one. (Some programs send 0 as the first program change, while others expect to see 1 as the first one).
If you have a Timeline running, the MIDI program changes may be getting slurped up by the Timeline and interpreted as instructions to jump to different Markers. You can solve this by setting the Timeline to a different MIDI channel than the VCS. Set the Timeline MIDI channel in the Timeline itself. Set the VCS MIDI channel in the Configure MIDI option of the DSP menu.
Please let us know what you discover. Thanks!

So I checked-verified everything above and couldn't figure out what it was until finally, I just tried a different midi configuration in max(offsets I think) and I've gotten results...sluggish, but they're results - that environment is a trickster sometimes. I'll be on my way now - thanks for the nudge :)
