Configuring the BCF2000 for use with Kyma
The BCF2000 motorized fader box can be used with Kyma 6.62 (and newer) and the Capybara-320 or the Paca(rana).
Set up
Connect the BCF2000 to the Capybara-320 through MIDI and to the Paca(rana) through MIDI or USB.
MIDI
Connect the MIDI output of the Capybara-320 (or the MIDI output of the MIDI interface being used with the Paca(rana)) to the MIDI input on the back of the BCF2000.
Connect the MIDI input of the Capybara-320 (or the MIDI input of the MIDI interface being used with the Paca(rana)) to MIDI output

buttons simultaneously. Rotate the
TYPE

S-3
as the interface mode.
Press the
EXIT
button on the BCF2000.
In Kyma, choose

from the

Press the

Select the "BCF2000 (USB) on the MIDI Input and Output on the DSP Status.
In Kyma, choose

menu, click the

button, and choose
BCF2000
as the
External MIDI Controller
.
Please note, unconfirmed reports of MTC not being passed though from the BCF-2000 MIDI In to Kyma. (Notes & CC's work fine.)
Use
When Kyma first starts (or when you select the BCF2000 as Kyma's external MIDI controller in the Preferences), Kyma will load a temporary preset into the BCF2000 (indicated by a circular pattern on the BCF2000 display). This preset is forgotten whenever you turn off the BCF2000 and is reloaded whenever you start Kyma or select the BCF2000 in the Preferences.
Whenever a Sound is played in Kyma, its virtual control surface will be automatically mapped to the BCF2000:
all vertical faders are mapped to BCF2000 faders, in left-to-right, top-to-bottom order
all circular controls are mapped to the BCF2000 encoders, in left-to-right, top-to-bottom order
the first 16 buttons and toggles are mapped to the BCF2000 switches, in left-to-right, top-to-bottom order
There are a few other, extra functions (see the diagram above).
The push function of the first encoder toggles between normal and fine-tune operation.
The push function of the second encoder exchanges faders and rotaries.
The eighth encoder controls the output level of Kyma and the push function of that encoder is a quick quiet function when the second encoder group is selected.
The third and fourth encoder group selector buttons are used to scroll through banks of faders and rotaries (8 at a time).
The user buttons are snapshot preset, roll the dice, and scroll through VCS presets.
Note that the BCF2000 will be locked in Kyma mode after Kyma has initialized it. Power-cycle the BCF2000 to use it with other software.
