PacaConnect is a connectivity utility application for Mac OSX that adds bidirectional OSC communications and multi-network support to the "Midi merger" and "virtual MIDI port" features found in PacaMidi. With PacaConnect it is now possible to fully utilize Symbolic Sound's Kyma OSC support across multiple local networks. PacaConnect eliminates the need for extra routers and WiFi access points in many situations, and makes it easy to set up the highest possible, lowest latency WiFi control is desired.
PacaConnect transforms a Mac into a "communications nerve center" for the Paca or Pacarana sound engine. Its "PacaProxy" facility makes Paca(rana) OSC services available to any network connected to the Mac. On-stage networking can be set up with just a MacBook or MacBook Pro; no additional routers or access points are required. Studio set ups based on a Mac with built-in Airport receive the same simplifying benefits. These sample setups illustrate some of the ways PacaConnect can simplify and empower your Kyma workstation.
PacaConnect also includes all of the features of PacaMidi, eliminating the need to add a MIDI interface to a Paca(rana), and one for the Mac. It offers the convenience of two always available external MIDI devices to control Kyma sounds, plus a "virtual MIDI port" that music applications can use to send and receive MIDI from Kyma.
A single user license is $29.95 USD, or €23,95 euro. PacaConnect can be purchased via credit card at delora.com. A fully functioning time-limited demo is available by request.
