Job Description:
* Director of Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (CIRMMT). The Centre draws researchers from across disciplines and from a number of partner institutions. Experts in psychology and physiology, neuroscience, acoustics, audio engineering, signal processing, electrical and computer engineering, computer science, and music address the nature, creation, capture, recording, transmission, perception, and communication of sound and music. CIRMMT also fosters interaction between scientists and the creative arts.

To be housed in a new building, currently under construction, CIRMMT's facilities will include: high bandwidth networked research laboratories and studios and a world-class multimedia hall, plus other facilities spread over the McGill campus and located at partner universities, all linked to CIRMMT to create an expanded virtual facility with broad-based research capabilities.

The person being sought is expected to provide dynamic and innovative leadership, and must have a strong record of significant international accomplishment in scientific research related to sound and music. The ideal candidate has a proven track record as an effective resource manager, team builder, communicator, and financial expert capable of leading a complex research enterprise. Previous administrative experience is required. Fluency in French is an asset. The position will be a tenured or tenure-track position in the Faculty of Music and will entail teaching and supervision of doctoral and post-doctoral research.
