Bio: Ilker is a sound engineer, editor and sound designer in New York. He also composes for live ensembles and is involved in documentary filmmaking, aside from working for other filmmaker's projects.
İlker Işıkyakar studied civil engineering and city planning in another life! Upon graduating in
1993 from Istanbul Technical University, he worked in multimedia for several years. In 1999
he moved to Boston to pursue his passion for music and his instrument of choice, the drums. In
2000, having earned a degree in music production and sound engineering from the prestigious
Berklee College of Music in Boston, he relocated to New York City where he resides to date.
Since his arrival in the Big Apple, he has composed, performed, taught and produced music.
More recently, he pursued film editing studies at The Edit Center, where he completed their
intensive “Art of Editing” program. He currently works as film and sound editor, post production
specialist, as well as composer. He runs his own production company “Cloud 18 Productions,
Inc.” with his spouse, and partner in crime, Zoe.
E. Zoe Schutzman grew up in Seville (Spain) and moved to Connecticut where she completed
her undergraduate studies in Chinese Philosophy and Architectural Design at Wesleyan
University. She went on to pursue graduate studies in Linguistics at The CUNY Graduate
Center, as well as Translation and Interpretation Studies at Hunter College, both in Manhattan.
Her affinity for the power of image and sound to tell a story has permeated her existence since
childhood, when her father first planted the seed by taking her to view films such as Nosferatu
and Casablanca (just to name two). Presently, she writes and produces short films, along with
her spouse, for their own company “Cloud 18 Productions, Inc.”
