After a youth whiled away as a jazz guitarist, Nick ran to composition, picked up the multi-instrumentalist bug, then ran to grad school in formalist music theory, but found nothing of his love for music and sound there, ran to improv collectives, psych metal, and fusion bands, built amplifiers, modified every electromechanical keyboard he could get his hands on, ran to media philosophy and pop music studies, but there was still no sound there. Currently Nick teaches sound design and audio production at Burlington College, working on a Ph.D. in media studies and philosophy.
