Our graduate program is small enough to offer plenty of personalized instruction, yet strong enough to have a good track record of preparing students for the next step in their careers. Graduates of the composition program have gone on to success in graduate programs at Indiana University, Berkeley, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, the Universities of Louisville, Michigan, Miami, Missouri/Kansas City, and Memphis, as well as Ohio State and Kent State -- most with assistantships and/or fellowships. Others students have gone on to careers in teaching (secondary and college), music publishing, music for dance, music recording and production, and other areas of musical activity. One graduate won 2nd place in the national student composition contest sponsored by the Society of Composers, Inc. (SCI).
