Bio: Stephen David Beck is Professor of Composition and Computer Music at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. He is Interim Director of the newly established Laboratory for Creative Arts & Technologies (LCAT), a research group in the LSU Center for Computation and Technology. LCAT is focused on research in the intersections of creativity, technology and human expression, and has research efforts in arts-based high performance computing, scientific visualization and sonification, and immersive audio environments. Previously, he served as Director of the Music & Art Digital Studio (the MADstudio) at LSU, a collaborative effort between the Schools of Music and Art which brings composers and visual artists together for the creation of digital art. He is, along with saxophonist Griffin Campbell, a founding member of the experimental electroacoustic band "Guys W/ Big Cars."
