LYNX AURORA 8/FW and LYNX AURORA 16/FW FIREWIRE AUDIO INTERFACES
Device Setup
Do not install the Aurora driver on Windows. If you have already installed the driver, remove the software using the uninstall option in the Aurora installer. You may install the control panel software on either the Macintosh or Windows to adjust the settings.
Device Setup
Turn the Aurora on before turning on the Paca(rana).
Use the switch on the Aurora front panel to select
INT
as the
Sync Source
.
Similarly, select
LSLOT IN
for the
To Analog Out
and
To Digital Out
.
Turn on the Paca(rana).
Start Kyma.
Select
Status
from the
DSP
menu.
Select the Lynx as the
Audio Input
and
Audio Output
in the DSP Status panel.
NOTE FOR AURORA 16: Depending on how the Aurora's internal mixer is configured, the Aurora's digital inputs and outputs may be mapped to "analog" channels 9-16 (or other combinations) in Kyma. In the DSP Status window Configure drop-down menu, select Route Outputs (Route Inputs) and double check that you have routed the outputs (inputs) the same way you have them set up in your Aurora.
You can use the DSP Status window to select the sample rate for the interface, but we suggest that you use the Lynx remote control software to select the clock source.
If the Lynx does not output audio after changing its sampling rate in Kyma, choose
Initialize DSP
from the
DSP
menu to reset both the Paca(rana) and the Lynx.
The MIDI interface on the Aurora is used only for controlling the interface and loading new firmware. Please be aware that even though Kyma's DSP Status panel will give you the option of using the Aurora as the MIDI interface, the MIDI ports on the back of the Aurora will not function.
If the Input-to-Output delay in Kyma is set to less than 10 ms, it may take the Lynx some time to reliably stream audio from Kyma. If you encounter thus problem, set the Input-to-Output delay (either in the Performance Preferences or under the Configure pop-up menu of the DSP Status window) to 10 ms, choose
Initialize DSP
from the
DSP
menu, and then change the Input-to-Output delay back to its previous value.
Here's how
BenPhenix
set up his Lynx Aurora
